If your business computers uses Cisco Linksys Wireless-G adapters to connect to the company network, you will need to manually check for and add updated versions of the drivers on a regular basis. By keeping the Wireless-G adapter drivers up-to-date, you can be assured that any existing driver bugs will be fixed and that the wireless connection for each computer will remain strong. You can download the most recent drivers for your specific adapter model directly from the Cisco Linksys Support Web page.

Cisco Wireless Adapter Driver Download
Visit the Cisco Linksys Support Web page (link in Resources) and type your Wireless-G adapter's model number into the 'Enter model or keyword' search box. Click on the model number when it appears in a drop-down menu to visit its support page.

Click the 'Downloads' tab in the center of the support page and select your hardware version (such as 'Version 1.0' or 'Version 2.5') from the Select Hardware Version drop-down menu. Available downloads, including drivers, are displayed on the page.

Click the 'Download' button next to the appropriate driver (for example, download 'Windows 7 Driver' if it is a Windows 7 computer or download 'XP Driver' if it is Windows XP) and click the 'Save' button to save the driver file to the computer's hard drive.

Right-click on the downloaded file (it will be in ZIP format) and select 'Extract All.' Follow the prompts in the extraction wizard and click 'Finish' to complete the extraction. Open the Start menu and click in the 'Search programs and files' box. Type 'devmgmt.msc' and press 'Enter' to open the Device Manager. Note: in Windows XP, after you open the Start menu, click 'Run' to access the text field where you type 'devmgmt.msc'

Click the arrow next to the 'Network adapters' category in the Device Manager to display its contents, and then right-click on your Linksys Wireless-G adapter. Select the 'Update Driver' option from the context menu and choose the 'Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)' option on the resulting page.

Click 'Next,' select the 'Search for the best driver in these locations' option, check the 'Include this location in the search' check box, click 'Browse,' and then select the folder containing driver file you just downloaded and extracted. Click 'Next' and then click 'Finish' when prompted by the wizard.
